Prof. Dr. Alexandru Vlad Ciurea graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. After years of hard work in the field of neurosurgery under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Constantin Arseni, Dr. Lenke Horvarth, Prof. dr. Alexandru Constantinovici, Dr. Sofia Ionescu, Dr. Alexandru Vlad Ciurea, he became a university professor of neurosurgery in year 1997 practicing multiple branches of neurosurgery: cerebral and spinal tumor pathology, cerebral vascular pathology, pediatric neurosurgery, neurotraumatology, etc.

He managed, at the beginning of the 80s, to set up, for the first time, a method of draining the cerebrospinal fluid, a procedure that later received a patent.

Over time, he led and was involved in almost 20 national and international research projects, also publishing over 35 monographs in the field of neurosurgery, health management and issues related to e-rich food.

In the period 1999-2006, he was the General Director of the Emergency Clinical Hospital “Bagdasar-Arseni” in Bucharest, on which occasion he implemented, with the help of the Ministry of Health, the Center of Excellence in Neurosurgery and Neurology, also bringing in the year 2003 the first device of Gamma Knife Surgery in Bucharest (which still works today).

As a sign of appreciation for the exceptional professionalism proven over time in the service of saving human lives, for his personal contribution to the training and training of new generations of staff in the field of neurosurgery, the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis conferred on him the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Knight.
